Story of ‘Ulajh’
This story is about Suhana Bhatia, a third generation IFS officer from a highly respected diplomatic family of the country. Suhana’s (Janhvi Kapoor) father Dhanraj Bhatia (Adil Hussain) is elected to the UN Council, while the smart Suhana also gets posted in London as the youngest Deputy High Commissioner due to her clever diplomatic strategies. However, colleagues like Jacob Tamang (Miang Chang) and Sevin (Roshan Mathew) see the hand of nepotism in this posting of Suhana. In such a situation, Suhana wants to prove her ability to everyone including her father.
Meanwhile, at an embassy party, she gets so impressed with Nakul Sharma (Gulshan Devaiah) in the very first meeting that she sleeps with him. Whereas, Nakul’s real identity is something else. He starts blackmailing Suhana on the basis of her private video and starts obtaining confidential information and Suhana gets badly entangled in this trap. Now how does Suhana get out of this trap? Who has hatched this conspiracy to trap her? What is their motive? It would be better to know this only after watching the film.
‘Ulajh’ Movie Review
Editor Nitin Baid’s tight editing maintains the pace of the story.Nakul reaching very important diplomatic events and parties while strolling, an intelligent officer like Suhana suddenly behaving like a college girl, trusting Nakul without any background check does not make sense. Similarly, the climax of the film also seems to be a drama far from reality. Meaning, the country’s identity is in danger, if Suhana wanted, she could have tried to stop this situation with a phone call, but no, she wants to become a hero herself, so she will go running and will maintain the suspense till the last second.
Similarly, in the climax scene too, there is a gathering of common people amidst the heavy VVIP movement. In such situations, the security is such that even a bird cannot fly, but nothing like this is seen on the silver screen.
Talking about acting, Janhvi’s hard work is visible, but she will have to work harder to establish herself as a natural actor. Anyway, in this film, more attention has been given to the costumes than her expressions. Gulshan Devaiah has suited his character very well. He has acted well.
Roshan Mathew also impresses in a supporting role, while senior actors like Rajesh Tailang, Adil Hussain are fine in their limited roles. The technical aspects of the film like cinematography, background score, costumes are strong. In terms of music, the song ‘Shaukan’ has become a hit on social media.
